Hatsune Miku Desktop Gadget Application [Download]

This is a neat little application that summons a small Miku that roams around your desktop and does various activities. She’ll climb the edges of your screen and windows, jump around, play with various objects, and even multiply. So it is not a good idea to leave her unattended for extended periods of time. She even gets a bit mischievous and may steal your application windows to throw them off screen (only works on some windowed apps, not full screen). Thankfully the application has an option to summon them back if this happens. You can even move her around if you want.

The controls for the application are as follows:

1. Top Option: Summon another Miku (or just double click the small icon).
2. Second Option: Calls all Mikus on screen to the location of your mouse.
3. Third Option: Deletes all Mikus on screen except the original (delete individual Mikus by right clicking on them).
4. Fouth Option: Brings back any stolen windows that were thrown off screen.
5. Fifth Option: Quits the application.

MikuMikuDance

MikuMikuDance (commonly abbreviated to MMD) is a freeware animation program that lets users animate and create 3D animation movies of the Vocaloids. The MikuMikuDance program itself was programmed by Yu Higuchi (HiguchiM) and has gone through significant upgrades since its creation.

Yu Higuchi is one of the leading 3D program developers of Vocaloid characters on Nico Nico Douga and is most well known as the creator of MikuMikuDance.

History of HiguchiM and MikuMikuDance:

On October 2007, shortly after Miku Hatsune was introduced, some 3D animators began to post 3D Promotional Videos of Miku on Nico Nico Douga. However, because each creator had their own different 3D programs which were difficult to utilize, fans with little or no knowledge of 3D animation skills had little opportunities to make similar videos of their own unless they invested a lot of time just learning the basics of each software.

Fortunately, on the 24th of February 2008, Yu Higuchi released MikuMikuDance (MMD) as a free software. This program simplified many aspects of 3D animation creation and its user friendliness, ease and simplicity attracted many creators. Soon, it became a worthy alternative to other existing 3D programs and fans can now publish 3D videos of vocaloids on video-streaming websites such as Nico Nico Douga and Youtube.

Notice: Yu Higuchi does not guarantee the proper work of fanmade models on MMD platform.

On May 26, 2011 he announced he would retire from developing MMD.
